Small Farm :
One DB server and WFE and combination of Application Server.WFE and Application services both residing in the same server.
Medium Farm :
It consists of a DB Server,an WFE and Application Server.
Extended Medium :
Same as medium farm but with extra one DB server.
Large Farm : Atleast 2 DB server and consists of several WFE and Application Servers.
